Motion Based

As you near the top of the hill coming up you go around a left hand corner into a long straight (there's an old ventilation shaft heading into the hill on the corner). Continue up the straight for about 100m and turn off on the road heading back up to the right through a locked gate (put there to stop cars being pushed over the cliff at the top).

Head up the steepness past the mud flats and up a bit more then take the left hand fork off the main road. Ride a hundred meters or so and you'll see the Channel 6 track heading in on the right at about 384 886(Hartley map).

Also known as the "Translator track", Channel Six follows the ridgeline, coming out on and crossing the old road a few times. The Start is quite tight as it weaves through the trees but you can still carry a bit of speed through it.

Not far in the trail crosses a small side road at the back of the first transmission tower. There's a small jump, more tight weaving through trees and a bit of a rock to get over (Just bounce over it). After this there's a small straight sprint that brings you back out onto the road. Head straight across and in on the right for more quick and flowing trail.

The track sticks fairly close to the road and soon comes back out onto it.
Follow the road for a short distance (30m?) before heading back in on the right. More fast and furious action follows with some nice flowing corners and a drop down jump. You can really nail it through this section before you hit a very slight up hill coming to the only hard section the track, a steep drop off down a scary switch back just behind the small transmission hut. A deviation is developing here.
The rocks aren't as hard as they first look and you can straighten out the top corner a bit by swinging high to the left, around a small rock and then turning in. Keep your head up and don't worry too muck about the rocks, if you get back over your bike you'll going to roll through. The hard bit is the corner at the bottom. Concentrate on this, feathering you brakes so that your front wheel doesn't slide out as you turn hard left, then pedal like mad to regain speed.

Note: When Last I rode this, the fires had left a large tree across the track just after the switch back.
More flowing trail ensues before the track ducks between two trees and takes a sharp left (Small berm), cutting straight across the road (A good place to catch your breath and wait for stragglers). Back in on the left hand side the track begins to drop a little steeper (less pedalling from here on in), winding through the trees before hitting a rough downhill beside the road. There are a couple of corners to wash off a bit of your speed before finally coming out on the road itself. As you get to the end of the ridge it goes back into single track on the left hand side just before the transmission tower (very obvious). Carry a bit of momentum in and take the rocks on the high side (The approach is a bit rough, but by carrying speed you and launch the first small drop then keep way up right, almost scraping your pedal on the hill beside you.)

This smooths out all but the second last step, where if travelling too slow it may hang up the front wheel a bit. At the intersection head to the high right.

From here it's rough and fast. Down towards the water tanks, over a few tree roots then a big switch back to the left, down tending more left, high left around a fallen tree, down, a little right then left into the flat, you can't go wrong. Along here, over a small jump then it goes up just a little up before you have to turn off to the right over a bit of a gully (don't go hard right!) follow it down though the steepness. It's getting a bit rutted due to moto guys using it to access the top. I like to safety in the ruts because you hit the two small berms better. Now there's a drop.

This used to be and easy roll down but the motorbikes have ripped it up a bit. Either go over to the right, where it's still rollable or hit it middle/left and launch yourself over the choss (6-7foot easy landing drop on to a nice run out, it really surprises you to go back a look at how far you dropped, it lands so sweetly).
Across the small flat swing down, slightly left. Hit the launch pad (Flat rock protruding out from the steepness) and you can just about make the dirt road without touching your brakes (Watch the tree on the slight right bend halfway down.)

The track comes out behind the factory (ADI aka Small Arms). Head right at the dirt road back into town.
